Meet Lisa

“I specialize in helping people make the unconscious conscious, which means that you know what you know; you know what you don’t know, but you don’t know what you don’t know.”

- Lisa Dewey

Hello! I'm Lisa, an LA-based hypnotherapist. I work with people whose anxiety is out of control, leaving them to doubt their ability to share their gifts and talents with the world. Especially, people in the entertainment industry for whom holding back their talent has a major impact on their career and professional success. My clients learn effective strategies to become calm, centered, and grounded so that they can be more authentic, confident, and relaxed.

Anxiety and panic attacks are my focus because I know what it’s like. I struggled with these things throughout my childhood and into my 20’s. I had always been an anxious kid, constantly fidgeting, biting my nails, and feeling like an elephant was sitting on my chest. As I grew, things like TV or alcohol would temporarily quiet the anxiety but would eventually stop working and/or backfire making things worse. I had my first panic attack when I was 18, a few months after my dad passed away. Sobbing on the bathroom floor, heart palpitating and mind racing, convinced that I was dying. The terror I felt at that moment was genuine and the fear of it happening again followed me constantly.

In my late 20’s, my boyfriend at the time got in a major accident and almost died. He spent 3 weeks in a medically induced coma, and 3 months in the hospital. I was facing some of my worst fears. This stark experience made me realize that life is short, and I wanted to make mine the best it could be. So I started asking myself.

“What am I doing with my life? If I died tomorrow how would I feel about the state of things?”

I had created a “safe” life that was supposed to protect me from the anxiety but not only was the anxiety still there but I started to realize that if I didn’t deal with the anxiety I was going to miss out on life.

Life is too short to be living the way I am living.

I started to realize that there weren’t enough distractions in the world to make my anxiety go away. In fact, by trying to distract myself from the anxiety, I was also distracting myself from everything important and meaningful to me.

You can’t numb yourself to one thing without numbing yourself to all things.

When I found hypnotherapy, I was skeptical but I knew I needed to do something different. I found that after each session the buzzing tension of my anxiety started to relax. My panic attacks got milder and eventually stopped completely. I felt more calm, centered, and confident, like something inside me was waking up. And then surprisingly, without anxiety taking up all my bandwidth, for the first time in my life, I started to have a vision for the passionate, creative, adventurous life I wanted to create for myself.

Now, over a decade later, I guide individuals and groups to do the same.

Meet Mona — Personal Assistant/Receptionist

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by Mona. Mona is a Schnoodle (schnauzer poodle mix) She will escort you from the waiting room to the office. She typically sleeps through the session but if you need something soft and fluffy to cuddle at any point, she will happily volunteer.

Please let me know if you are allergic to dogs or are a cat person and prefer she not be there. (You are the priority and she won't take it personally.)

If you are a dog lover but your session is on Zoom, don’t worry she will likely pop her head in and say hi at some point.
